This is the fiber from which I spun the yarn “Kirkwall.” Named for the town of Kirkwall on the island of Orkney, the grays, blues and greens all are reminiscent of the landscapes of the island off the northern coast of Scotland. Targhee wool is a domestic breed originating from Idaho. It is a sturdy wool with a lovely hand and is a pleasure to spin. The yarn is perfect for socks, gloves, hats as well as outer wear.
The fiber was dyed in my home studio using professional acid dyes. It was then washed to remove any excess dye.
These braids weighs 4 oz each.
